Amendments to California Assembly Bill No. 2451 have recently been passed through the work of the Utility Management and Conservation Association, of which Conservice contributed. This bill makes improvements to the process of water sub-meter testing and approval.
Several changes were approved by the Governor on September 25, 2014. The changes are highlighted below:
- The bill now allows a water sub-meter that has been inspected, tested and sealed in one county,to be installed in another county.
- Once a water sub-meter has been tested, approved, and sealed, it can be saved and distributed at a later date if needed.
- An owner, user, or operator will not be subject to criminal liability for sub-meters that have been submitted to the sealer for inspection and are found to be incorrect.
The approved changes will help decrease the time it takes to have a sub-meter tested, and also allows Conservice to house more sub-meters for distribution through our San Diego warehouse.
